Q3 storage security encryption appliance – Q3 Enterprise (Q3e.)
The new Q3e appliance is now available with user selectable AES-128 or AES-256 encryption modes and supports up to four tape drives. SCSI and Fibre units are available. The host and tape interface speed has increased on both - 320 Mb/sec on SCSI and 4 Gbit/sec on Fibre channel. Encrypted throughput has also increased to 300 MB/second.
Due to recent government regulations companies are now required by law to
protect consumer’s personal information. Regulations like HIPAA protect
consumers by requiring that their critical personal data is secure at all times.
California Senate Bill 1386 goes one step further by requiring that customers
are notified immediately when there’s a suspicion that their personal data has
been compromised. This can be as simple as a tape lost in transit.
